Police target South Highfields area crime

  • Published

Police have begun a crackdown on anti-social behaviour, drug crime and graffiti in Leicester.

The Upper Tichborne Street area of South Highfields will see increased uniformed and plain clothes patrols and searches of premises.

Officers said they would also be working with church volunteers to improve the appearance of the area.

They added the initiative followed work last year to identify residents' concerns and those responsible.

Sgt Danny Graham said: "Local people will see an increase in police activity during this time, but should not be alarmed.

"Your local officers will be working hard to make the area a safer place in which to live."
