Youth charged over Leicestershire shop robberies
A teenager has been charged with carrying out armed raids on two shops in Leicestershire.
Goods were stolen from Mark Convenience store, Thurmaston, on 16 February by a robber with a suspected gun.
The following day, a worker at Wanlip Store in Birstall was also threatened, but the offender left empty handed.
A 16-year-old youth has been charged with robbery and attempted robbery and was due to appear at Lougborough Youth Court on Thursday.
He is also accused of two counts of possessing a firearm.
Another 16-year-old youth has also been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery at Birstall and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
