Police seek £200,000 of fake goods at Coalville market

Counterfeit goods worth more than £200,000 have been seized from a Leicestershire market by police and trading standards officers.

Six people were arrested and released on bail after fake goods were seized at Donington Market in Coalville.

Police said the stalls were raided after they received complaints about counterfeit goods.

Leicestershire County Council spokesman said the fake goods could also pose a safety hazard.

Pc Matt Bly, from Coalville police station, said: "This joint operation with Trading Standards was a big success - it shows that the trade in fake goods is big business and selling them is not acceptable."
