Three arrests over armed robbery at Hinckley Tesco

Three men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Leicestershire supermarket.

About £700 was stolen and a customer was hit over the head with a hammer during the raid at Tesco in London Road, Hinckley, on 29 March.

Staff and shoppers were ordered to lay on the floor while three robbers, all wearing balaclavas, searched the store.

Three men, aged 21, 27 and 31, have been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A large quantity of cigarettes was also stolen, and the robbers escaped in a silver Subaru Impreza - driven by a fourth man - which was later discovered on fire in East Close.

The customer injured in the raid was treated in hospital for head injuries and later released.

Anyone with information about the robbery, which happened at about 2230 BST, should contact the Leicestershire force.
