A major bus route in Lincolnshire and Leicestershire is to benefit from £130,000 of improvements.

Stops along the Veolia route 8 between Loughborough and Grantham will be upgraded to help those with mobility problems and parents with pushchairs.

Along with raised kerbs, the stops will get new signs, timetable information and shelters.

Officials said they wanted to make the service accessible to as many people as possible.

Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "The bus stop upgrades will make the service much more accessible and will hopefully encourage more people to use the bus instead of their car.

"Using buses helps to reduce congestion on our roads and is better for the environment."
