Bank announces major jobs boost in Narborough

Spanish bank Santander, which took over the Alliance and Leicester, is hoping to create hundreds of new jobs in Narborough.

It has announced plans to move its UK computing operations to Carlton Park, in a development that could cost more than £100m.

The company will consult with local people and the plans will be on show at Narborough Parish Hall on Tuesday.

If approved, the development will take place over the next two years.

The new development includes two buildings on the Carlton Park Campus and would represent a "substantial investment", the company said.

The planning application is due to be submitted in June.

The company also said a substantial number of jobs would be created during the construction period.

Santander UK plc is a full-service retail and commercial bank and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Banco Santander.
