A bus has been destroyed after catching fire in a residential street in a Leicestershire town.

No-one was injured as the bus driver managed to get all the passengers on the Coalville to Agar Nook service out safely, an Arriva bus spokesman said.

A replacement vehicle was put into service on the route, the spokesman said.

The single decker bus caught on fire on Oakham Drive in Coalville just after noon.

Leicestershire Fire Service said the fire apparently started after the bus throttle jammed.

A full investigation will take place to determine the exact cause of the fire.
