Leicester jobs lost as Moreglam clothing firm closes

About 70 people have lost their jobs as a Leicester clothing manufacturer announced it was going into administration.

Moreglam, in Forest Road, was set up in 1997 as a manufacturer and importer of clothes for women and girls.

In a statement, administrator Grant Thornton blamed the loss of a number of contracts for the job losses and closure of the company.

Nine staff have been kept on to help Grant Thornton sell the stock.

Jeremy Birch, Grant Thornton's recovery and reorganisation director, said the business had "no viable future as a going concern".

"We had to take the difficult decision to make 70 members of Moreglam's staff redundant," said Mr Birch.

"Nine staff members have been retained to assist as we explore the options to achieve the best possible outcome for creditors from selling the stock."
