Almost 1,500 cannabis plants have been seized in a raid on a disused building in Leicester, police said.

The cannabis factory on Swan Street was discovered after a tip-off from a member of the public.

The plants, seized on Friday, are believed to have a potential street value of £500,000.

Four people have been arrested and released on bail while an investigation is carried out, a police spokesman said.

Sergeant Michelle Zakoscielny of Leicestershire Police said: "This was a large cannabis factory and a fantastic discovery with a huge street value."
