Police investigating the death of a Leicester father-of-two have said they have a number of new leads.

Ponnuthurai Nimalaraja, 41, died in hospital a week after being punched to the ground on the corner of Gipsy Lane and Northfield Road on 9 June.

On Saturday, officers stopped cars and pedestrians in the area in an effort to find new witnesses.

Six boys and a girl, aged between 13 and 15, have been arrested and bailed over the attack.

Det Ch Insp Matt Hewson, who is leading the investigation, said: "We still believe there may be a number of potential witnesses out there who have not come forward and contacted the police.

"If you were in the area on that Saturday and have not yet come forward I would urge you to contact us. Even if you don't think you have much information to pass on, the slightest detail could help with our investigation."
