Police appeal after fatal crash in Leicestershire

One person has died and three others have been injured in a crash on the A42 in Leicestershire.

A silver Kia Rio parked on the side of the road, near Measham, was hit by a red Vauxhall van heading in the same direction at about 11:30 BST.

One occupant from the Kia received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them.

A second occupant of the car received serious injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment.

The driver of the van, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

A passenger in the van received minor injuries and was taken to the Queen's Hospital in Burton-on-Trent for treatment.
