A woman has attempted to break a world record by pulling a double-decker bus with her hair.

Asha Rani, 21, who is known as the Iron Queen, pulled the 12-tonne bus 17.2m on Humberstone Gate in Leicester.

To break the current record, she had to pull it more than 5m. The attempt must now be verified.

She is working with strongman Manjit Singh, who has broken world records for pulling a bus with his ears. The pair are raising money for a cancer charity.

Mr Singh already holds several world records including pulling a double-decker bus with his hair and lifting 85kg with his ears.

The strongman, who comes from the same village in the Punjab as Ms Rani, said the feat was all about "mind over matter and not physical strength".

"There is no specific training for this, it is mind over matter whether it be breaking glass with your head or lifting things with your ears," he said.

"Rani started learning three or four years ago and now she's better than me."

The duo are raising money for PROSTaid, a charity which raises awareness about prostate cancer.
