The £6m refurbishment of Leicester railway station has been completed.

Improvements have been made to the station's entrance hall, platforms, overbridge, toilets and customer information boards.

A new taxi rank has been created and the station's short-stay car park and passenger drop-off points have been revamped.

The work began last October and was officially unveiled by the mayor of Leicester, Sir Peter Soulsby.

He said: "Leicester Station is a fantastic building. This ambitious refurbishment has created a truly welcoming and attractive gateway into our city."
