A double decker bus had its roof torn off when it was driven under a railway bridge in Leicestershire.

The vehicle hit the 3.5m (11ft 9ins) high bridge in King's Street in Sileby - between Loughborough and Leicester - at about 09:00 BST.

The bus company Ausden Clark said there were no passengers on board and the diver was unhurt.

One eyewitness said the noise of the vehicle hitting the bridge was "terrifying".

A spokesman for the bus firm said a full investigation was now under way.
