A body has been found during a search for a man who has been missing since last Wednesday.

William Tomlinson, 64, was last seen near a house in St Stephens Road, Leicester.

Detectives said although no formal identification had taken place, the body was believed to be that of Mr Tomlinson.

A 23-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remain in police custody.

The body was found in an area off Abingdon Road on Monday afternoon.

The street has been sectioned off to allow for forensic examinations to take place and a cordon also remains in St Stephens Road.

Det Insp Simon Shuttleworth, who is leading the murder inquiry, said: "Our investigation is very much ongoing and a number of inquiries are being carried out.

"Although we believe we have found Bill's body, we are still keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen him on Tuesday 17 or Wednesday 18 February."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Leicestershire Police.
