Woman admits faking Lincoln street robbery

A woman has been spared jail after admitting faking a street robbery.

In May Catherine Oliver, 24, from Dunmore Close, Lincoln, claimed she was mugged as she went to bank takings from the restaurant where she worked.

But detectives became suspicious after CCTV footage did not match her account of what happened.

At Lincoln Crown Court, Oliver admitted theft and perverting the course of justice and was sentenced to 20 weeks jail, suspended for two years.

She was also placed under probation supervision for 12 months and ordered to carry out 200 hours community punishment.
