Churches in Lincolnshire are being urged to get advice on security to avoid them being targeted by metal thieves.

It follows a spate of break-ins and lead thefts from places of worship in the county.

Lincolnshire Police said the force can offer advice to church officials to help prevent crime.

One church in the county was targeted by lead thieves three times in just one month, police said.

Church officials said such thefts not only damage the building, but can cause major financial burdens.
