Woman's body found in River Trent in Gainsborough

The body of an elderly woman has been recovered from the River Trent in Lincolnshire.

Police were called to Riverside Walk in Gainsborough at about 1300 BST and fire crews recovered the body from the water near Field Lane.

Lincolnshire Police said they were trying to determine how the woman came to be in the water.

They also said they needed to identify her to inform her relatives. Officers have appealed for information.
