Louth police car escapee is spared jail

A man who escaped from a locked police car while in handcuffs has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Michael Coady, 22, of no fixed abode, had been arrested after a fight outside a Louth nightclub in January.

While officers were attending another incident, Coady managed to lower a window, release a child lock and flee, but later handed himself in.

At Lincoln Crown Court he admitted threatening behaviour and escaping from custody.

He was given a six-month jail term, suspended for 12 months.
