Two rescued from warehouse fire in Lincoln

Two people have been rescued from a fire at a disused furniture warehouse in Lincoln.

Five crews were called out to the blaze on Wragby Road at about 0100 GMT on Thursday, a spokesman from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said.

The fire took several hours to put out and two people rescued from the blaze have been taken to hospital.

It is not yet known how the fire started or what the people were doing in the disused warehouse.

Andy Whitfield, from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: "When we got to the warehouse, there was smoke billowing out of every area.

"With there being two persons already in the warehouse, we couldn't take it for granted that the building was clear so we had to search the entire building and then put the fire out."

Investigations into the cause of the fire are under way.
