A supermarket has promised to build a new health and sports centre in a Lincolnshire town if it is allowed to tear down an existing facility.

Tesco wants to build a store on land occupied by Station Sports Centre in Mablethorpe, but would build another leisure facility in the town first.

If the plans are approved, the new store would create 150 new jobs.

The plans have gone on display in the town and a planning application will be submitted later this year.

The sports centre, which was built in the 1980s and is run by the East Lindsey District Council, would move to a new location on Stanley Avenue.

The proposed site for the sports and health centre is about 400m from the current location.

Tesco are opening a new store in Bourne in a few weeks and also have submitted plans for stores in Horncastle, Sleaford, Tattershall and Bracebridge Heath.
