Armed gang steal cash from Gedney Hill post office

An armed gang wearing balaclavas threatened staff during a robbery a Lincolnshire post office.

Three men with a crowbar, an axe and a sledgehammer entered the branch in Hillgate, Gedney Hill, near Spalding, at about 17:15 GMT on Monday.

They made off in a stolen 51-plate dark red Land Rover Discovery with a quantity of cash.

No-one was injured but police said staff and a number of passers-by had been left shaken.

The vehicle had been stolen from south of Market Deeping earlier that day and approached the post office from the Holbeach direction.

The gang left scene in the direction of Parson's Drove.

The Land Rover was found abandoned at a farm on Luttongate just before 20:00 GMT.
