Guard injured in Mablethorpe Co-op store cash raid

A security guard was injured when an armed gang attacked a cash delivery in Lincolnshire.

Three men in balaclavas, one with a sledgehammer, targeted the Mablethorpe Co-op just after 10:00 GMT on Tuesday.

Two guards were in the store foyer and one was taken for treatment at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital.

The gang fled in a black 03-plate Volkswagen Golf which was abandoned on Ancaster Road, after which the suspects ran towards George Street.

Officers said they were still establishing what had been stolen.

One of the suspects was described as of stocky build. All are thought to be about 5ft 10in (1.7m) to 6ft (1.8m) tall.

The car may have been driven by a fourth offender.
