Christmas Day rape was not sexual assault, police say

Police investigating an alleged rape near a pub on Christmas Day say that no sexual assault took place.

Lincolnshire Police initially said a woman left the Nag's Head in Sleaford with a man who then punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her.

But Det Insp Sean Baxter said a thorough investigation into the allegation concluded events were not as initially reported.

Police are no longer investigating any offences, including assault.

The 18-year-old, who lives outside Lincolnshire, was alleged to have been attacked between 00:45 and 02:00 GMT.
