Teen hurt as car flips over during Spalding police pursuit

A teenager is being treated for a neck injury after a car being followed by police flipped over in a garden.

The 15-year-old was a passenger in a blue MG ZR saloon, which was seen by a police patrol in suspicious circumstances in Spalding on Wednesday.

Lincolnshire Police said the boy's injury was not thought to be life-threatening.

The 18-year-old driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

The pursuit began at 1:11 GMT.

Overturned in garden

A police spokesperson said officers tried to stop the car before following it to Holbeach.

It left the road and overturned in a garden in Fleet Road, near to the junction with Foxes Low Road.

A second passenger, aged 16, was arrested nearby but he has since been released without charge.

The 15-year-old was arrested later at a local house on suspicion of criminal damage and breaching bail conditions.

The driver and the 15-year-old were taken to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, and the driver was released after treatment.

Lincolnshire Police has referred the incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
