The funeral of a six-year-old boy and his grandmother who drowned in a Lincolnshire lake has taken place.

The service took place at St Mary the Virgin Church in the village of Ketton, in Rutland, at 11:00 GMT.

The bodies of Dawn Mullany, 71, from Castle Bytham and Laurence Mullany Mills, from Ketton, were found at Holywell near Stamford, last week.

An inquest into their deaths, held at Stamford Town Hall on Thursday, was adjourned until a later date.

The coroner was told the family raised the alarm after they were unable to contact Mrs Mullany and Laurence.

Police found Mrs Mullany's car near the lake in Holywell village and a short time later their bodies were discovered.

A post-mortem examination confirmed they had both drowned.

A statement from the family said: "Their death leaves a hole in our lives that can never be filled."
