Lincoln street death is suspected stabbing say police

A man found dying on a Lincoln street had suffered a suspected stab wound, police have said.

Officers were called to the Portland Street area at 05:55 BST to reports of an injured man. He died a short time later.

Lincolnshire Police said they were currently treating the death as suspicious.

They have appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact them.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

Several roads in the city were cordoned off as part of the investigation.

Portland Street was closed to the junction with Cross Street, and Kesteven Street was shut from Portland Street to Clifton Street.

Other areas affected included Walnut Place and the area at the rear of the Lincs FM building at Witham Park.
