Two dead and four injured in Rutland A1 road crash.

Two people were killed and four others were injured in a two-car crash on a Rutland road.

A Rover 400 was in collision with a Vauxhall Vectra on the A1 in Stretton, near the Lincolnshire border, on Sunday afternoon.

The male driver of the Rover and a female passenger were killed, while two other passengers - a man and a woman are in a stable condition.

The driver and passenger in the Vectra received minor injuries.

Det Con Pete Davies, from Leicestershire Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: "The Rover was travelling southbound on the A1 towards Stamford and the Vectra was travelling in the opposite direction when it left the carriageway when the collision occurred.

"We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle beforehand.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help with our enquiries."
