A man has been cleared of murdering a man who was found dying on a Lincoln street.

Gary Hayes, 44, was found with a stab wound to the chest in the Portland Street area of the city in April.

The prosecution at Lincoln Crown Court offered no evidence against Benjamin Freeston, 32, from Stamp End in Lincoln and he was formally discharged.

A second man, Mark Titley, 38, from Monks Road in Lincoln, still faces a murder charge and was remanded.

No plea was taken. Mr Titley is due to appear in court again in October.
