Police searching for an 83-year-old woman who has been missing from her Lincolnshire home for more than a week say they have found a body.

Mary (Marion) Scott, who has dementia, left her home in Acre Close, Market Rasen, on 27 December.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said the body of a woman was found on Monday afternoon on land in the Sixhills area near Market Rasen.

Officers said they were not yet able to confirm the identity of the body.

Family informed

The search, which has has involved helicopters, planes and boats, has concentrated on a 6 km (3.7 miles) area around Hainton, between Market Rasen and Wragby.

Specialist teams have also carried out searches in places of shelter.

Mrs Scott is unable to recall historical family details so officers do not believe she would have the ability to find her way back home.

She is described as being about 5 ft 4 in (1.6 m) tall, of slight build with short black hair and was wearing brown cord trousers, grey slip-on shoes and a green top.

It is thought she was wearing a pink jacket when she went missing.

The Lincolnshire Police spokesperson added Mrs Scott's family had been informed about the discovery of the body.
