A warning to motorists is in place in Lincolnshire, with snow flurries and ice affecting large parts of the county.

A severe weather warning was issued by the Met Office, with further snow expected over the weekend.

Hazardous driving conditions were also reported on the A1 near Grantham, because of snow.

The Highways Agency has advised road users to take extra care and to be prepared for the conditions.

East Midlands Airport said it was advising passengers to check with their airline for the latest flight information after flights were temporarily suspended.

Steady snow fell from about 11:00 GMT on Friday, prompting the airport to close while the runways are cleared.

East Coast and East Midlands Trains have also told passengers to check before travelling.

In football, Lincoln City's home match against Wrexham has been postponed, along with Grantham Town's match against Whitby.

The Met Office said more snow was expected, with a high risk of ice.
