A man has suffered "life-changing" injuries in a double shooting in east London.

Officers were called to Dunkeld Road in Dagenham on Saturday night to reports of gunshots.

The victims had managed to leave the scene but were later traced to Romford, where a 23-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the back. He is in a critical condition in hospital.

A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg and is in a stable condition.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Operation Trident unit, which looks at gun crime in London's African and Caribbean communities, are investigating the shootings.
