Person missing after major fire in Wembley
One person is unaccounted for after fire destroyed a building in west London.
The flames took hold of a building due for demolition in Rowntree Road in Wembley at about 0050 BST. The building was gutted and the roof collapsed.
Six fire engines tackled the fire, which was complicated by the presence of asbestos.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said he was unable to confirm whether the missing person was a rough sleeper.
Another fire, in Blackheath Park, south-east London, left one person suffering from smoke inhalation.
A derelict building caught fire, causing two adults and three children to flee an adjacent block.
One adult was treated at the scene after inhaling fumes.
