A four-year-old girl found stabbed to death in an east London flat has been identified by the Metropolitan Police as Nusayba Hassam.

The girl's body was found at the flat in Chatsworth Estate on Elderfield Road, Clapton, on Thursday afternoon.

No formal cause of death was given after the post-mortem examination.

A woman, 36, believed to be the girl's mother, was arrested on suspicion of the child's murder. She has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

An inquest into the death, which opened at Poplar Coroner's Court earlier, was adjourned until 24 January.

The woman is being held in a secure unit after being declared unfit for interview.
