A 78-year-old woman has died after being struck by a lorry in east London, police said.
The pensioner was hit as she crossed the Bethnal Green Road, near its junction with Rushmead, after 2230 GMT on Thursday.
Paramedics attended to the injured woman, who lived in the area, but she died at the scene.
The 33-year-old driver of the lorry was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving.
He was later bailed to return for further inquiries in March 2011.
Detectives want to trace a black cab driver who they believe was at the scene at the time of the accident.
The woman's next of kin have been informed.
