A man and a woman have been arrested after the body of a 21-year-old man was found in the boot of a burnt out car in south-east London.

Gagandip Singh, 21, from Bexleyheath, was discovered at 0200 GMT on Saturday in Angerstein Lane, Blackheath.

The man and woman, both aged 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are being held in custody.

Officers on patrol came across the burning vehicle, a blue Mercedes C-class, in a side street.

Police said results from a post-mortem examination had proved inconclusive, but did show Mr Singh had suffered severe head injuries.

Further tests are due to be carried out in an attempt to establish a cause of death.
