Man charged with Leyton cafe murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a 63-year-old who was stabbed in an east London cafe.

Alan Smith was stabbed in the heart and lungs following a row in the Roma Cafe on Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, on Saturday afternoon.

Matthew Quesada, 25, of no fixed address, was due to appear at Barking Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning.

A woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail.

Officers were called to the cafe at about 1445 GMT. The stabbed man was treated by ambulance crews but died soon after arriving at hospital.
