Woman, 97, knocked down by lorry named as Nora Gutmann
A woman in her 90s who was knocked down and killed near Baker Street Tube station in central London has been named by police as Nora Gutmann.
The 97-year-old from Kilburn was hit by a lorry on Marylebone Road at about 1200 BST on Friday. She died shortly afterwards in hospital.
The driver involved was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, Scotland Yard said.
He was bailed to return in July pending further enquiries.
A post-mortem at Westminster Mortuary gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.
Det Sgt Jeff Edwards, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am grateful for a number of people who stopped at the scene to assist the casualty.
"This stretch of road was fairly busy at that time and I would urge anyone who may have seen any of the parties in the moments leading up to the collision, or the collision itself, to contact police."
