Girl accused of murdering Julie Sheriff in Battersea

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with murdering a teenager who died more than four months after being assaulted in south-west London.

Julie Sheriff, 16, was left in a coma after the attack in Battersea in May and did not regain consciousness before dying on 21 September.

She died as a result of head injuries with associated complications.

The accused, who cannot be named due to her age, is due before Balham Youth Court on Tuesday.

She was originally charged with grievous bodily harm and appeared in court on 10 May, three days after the attack.

She remains on remand in secure accommodation.
