Man admits killing father in London house fire
A man who suffers from psychiatric problems has pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to killing his father and a lodger in a house fire in east London.
Arun Bhasin, 53, of Shadwell, east London, admitted to the manslaughter of his 80-year-old father Ram and lodger Sunil Koosuru, 29, on 7 March.
Bhasin developed "grandiose psychotic delusions" after his brain was damaged following a heart attack, during which his heart stopped for three hours.
He will be sentenced on 2 December.
The prosecution accepted Bhasin, an alcoholic, suffered an abnormality of the mind at the time of the fatal fire. He suffered the heart attack last December.
Bhasin was originally charged with two counts of murder, but he denied the charges on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
He also denied one count of arson, which the judge ordered to lie on file.
