Two men arrested over Battersea murder

Two men have been arrested over the murder of a man who was beaten to death in south-west London, the Metropolitan Police has said.

Richard Ward, 37, was found with fatal head injuries near St Johns Road, in Battersea, close to midnight on Monday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Ward, of Battersea, was attacked by several people who left him on the street on Severus Road, police said.

The men, aged 35 and 37, were arrested at a property in Tooting on Wednesday.

Det Ch Insp Cliff Lyons has appealed for information from people who were in or near Severus Road and St John's Hill between 22:00 GMT and midnight on Monday.

Severus Road remains closed for investigation.
