Man charged over terror offences

A 24-year-old east London man has been charged over terrorism offences, Scotland Yard police said.

Mohammed Shabir Ali will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He is accused of possessing a document entitled 44 Ways to Support Jihad, written by US-born Islamist cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.

He is also charged with assisting another person to commit acts of terrorism.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 20 August, 2008 and 21 June last year.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said two men, aged 24 and 30, and a 21-year-old woman, remained in police custody.
