Games Makers from last year's Olympic Games have been awarded a national qualification recognising their skills.

Almost 3,000 volunteers have completed the Level 2 City & Guilds award.

The qualification was initially designed for volunteers needing extra help such as unemployed people, but Games Makers took the exam as well.

London Olympics organiser Lord Coe said: "The Games Makers were crucial to the success of London 2012."

He added: "I'm proud that many of them are now using their experience and qualification to open up opportunities in their careers, as well as in sport and volunteering."

The qualification was sponsored and administered by McDonald's.
