Life sentence over Christian-Gnanakumar Lewisham street murder

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 16 years for murdering a man in a street-fight in south-east London.

Kohulan Podiapuhamey, 24, of Woodyates Road, Lee was found guilty of the murder of Thierry Christian-Gnanakumar.

Mr Christian-Gnanakumar, 22, of Catford, died outside the library in Lewisham High Street on 10 November.

Five other men were found guilty of violent disorder and were all sentenced to three and a half years.

The five men were Jius James Vijashinghe, 27, of Baizdon Road, Blackheath; Kaviloan Venayakamoorthy, 23, of Eastdown Park, Lewisham, Lee; Jayruban Vivekananthan, 26, of Nightingale Heights, Woolwich; Pirunthan Kunaratatnam, 23, of Arkindale Road, Catford and Aathavan Rajakumar, 24, of no fixed abode.

All five were were cleared of murder.
