Ayesha Ali death: Woman, 41, arrested for murder

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an eight-year-old girl at a block of flats in east London.

Ayesha Ali died on 29 August after paramedics were called to the flats in Broomfield Road in Chadwell. A post mortem examination gave the cause of death as a head injury.

The 41-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday.

Ayesha's mother Polly Chowdhury, 34, has previously been charged with her daughter's death.

She remains in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on 19 November.
