Pedestrian hit and killed on east London road

A 28-year old man has been hit by a car and killed at a road junction in east London.

The pedestrian was on Bow Road at the junction with Campbell Road when he was hit at about 21:45 BST on Monday.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in police custody.

The junction was closed for several hours while police investigated. It was re-opened at 02:00 BST on Tuesday.
