Woman guilty in Barnet careless driving death case

A woman has been convicted of causing the death by careless driving of a mother-of-two in north London.

Christie McHugh, 33, from Barnet, died after she was hit by a car outside the Lord Kitchener pub in Barnet.

Ophelia Okai-Koi, 51, of Galdana Avenue, Barnet, was found guilty at Harrow Crown Court of causing her death.

But she was cleared of causing death by dangerous driving. She will be sentenced on 18 July.

Mrs McHugh was carried along the bonnet of the car before she fell off and hit a zebra crossing light, Scotland Yard said.
