Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl with bipolar disorder was apparently taken to Egypt by her brother without her mother's consent.

Beatrice Anita Phillips - who is now 16 - was 15 when she and her 23-year-old brother Moses travelled to Cairo.

The siblings left their home in Isleworth, west London, and flew from Heathrow Airport on 24 April.

Police have appealed for them to make contact.

Detectives are investigating Beatrice's disappearance as a missing persons inquiry, and have contacted police in Egypt as part of their investigations.

'Family is distraught'

A day after leaving the UK, Beatrice made a call to her mother, but the family have heard nothing since.

Det Ch Insp Sarah Pearce, of Hounslow Borough, said the family was in distress.

She said: "Beatrice was only 15 years old when she went missing and we are particularly concerned for her, as she does not have with her, or access to, medication she needs to stay well.

"The whole family is distraught and desperate to hear from them or hear from anyone in the UK or in Egypt who can shed any light on where they could be.

"We do not know why Moses took his sister with him as he did not have permission to do so and is fully aware of Beatrice's medical needs."
