Man arrested for murder for 'trying to dump a body in River Thames'

A man seen trying to dump a body in the River Thames in south-east London has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 50-year-old was arrested in his car near Deptford Wharf in the early hours of Friday after police were called to a man acting suspiciously.

The body of a man in his 20s, who had suffered head injuries, was found in the vehicle.

Police believe he was killed in Thornton Heath, south London, and a woman was arrested at an address there.

Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
