A man has been arrested on suspicion of the rape of a young woman who was attacked after she got off a night bus in east London.

A woman in her 20s was walking on Duff Street, Tower Hamlets, on Thursday morning after getting off the N15 bus following a night out with friends.

She was grabbed from behind and dragged to a waste ground next to the former African Queen pub, the Metropolitan Police said.

A man was arrested on Sunday.

The woman was sexually assaulted by a man who then stole her money.

Her calls for help were heard by some residents and police were called but the man had already run off towards East India Dock Road when officers arrived.
